Abhay Bhutada Foundation Makes History Education More Inclusive at Shivsrushti

The Abhay Bhutada Foundation has extended generous support to Shivsrushti, a historical theme park in Pune, by contributing Rs 51 lakhs. This contribution enables a sharp reduction in ticket prices, allowing visitors to access the park for just Rs 50 from May 15 to July 15, 2025. The goal is to make learning about India’s heritage more accessible for everyone, especially students and families.

The initiative demonstrates Abhay Bhutada’s continuing efforts to promote cultural knowledge through inclusive and affordable experiences.

The donation aims to increase public participation in understanding the achievements of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a revered leader in Indian history. Shivsrushti was developed based on the vision of historian Babasaheb Purandare and brings Shivaji Maharaj’s values, leadership, and strategies to life through various interactive displays.

With the reduced ticket cost, the Abhay Bhutada Foundation intends to welcome individuals from all sections of society to experience the rich cultural offerings of the park. This includes schoolchildren, history educators, and families eager to learn more about India’s historical icons.

Blending Education with Immersive Technology

Sprawled over 21 acres, Shivsrushti integrates traditional stories with modern tools to provide a memorable learning experience. Visitors can explore a range of exhibits that offer insight into Shivaji Maharaj’s life and vision. The standout feature is the Time Machine Theatre, where history is recreated using holograms, advanced mapping, and special effects.

Designed to ensure visitor comfort, the entire park is air-conditioned and built to host large numbers of guests across age groups. The exhibits are presented in a way that keeps visitors engaged while delivering factual and educational content.

Sections Designed to Inform and Inspire

The park features multiple zones, each highlighting different aspects of Shivaji Maharaj’s journey:

  • Durg Vaibhav educates visitors about the strategic and architectural genius behind the forts built during his time.

  • Ranangan sheds light on the major battles he led and the military expertise he demonstrated.

  • Shrimant Yogi focuses on his philosophical and spiritual grounding that guided many of his decisions.

  • Sinhasanadhishwar explores his coronation and his work in administration and governance.

In addition to these, visitors can also view a replica of the Tulja Bhavani temple, a peaceful artificial lake named Ganga Sagar, and an art gallery filled with rare, detailed paintings that capture Shivaji Maharaj’s life in motion.

During the subsidised entry period, tickets will be sold exclusively online through Shivsrushti’s official website to ensure safe and efficient crowd management.

Uplifting Communities Through Cultural Awareness

Chairman of Shivsrushti, Jagdish Kadam, has confirmed that the theme park was conceptualised to spread knowledge about the principles and accomplishments of Shivaji Maharaj. The support provided by Abhay Bhutada, founder of the Abhay Bhutada Foundation, reinforces this mission by helping to remove entry cost as a hurdle for many families.

This effort is a practical step toward ensuring that cultural spaces do not remain limited to a particular section of society. It allows a broader range of people to explore and appreciate historical experiences that shape India’s identity.

Philanthropy That Prioritises Impact

The Abhay Bhutada Foundation has long prioritised work that adds value to education, community well-being, and cultural exposure. This recent initiative aligns with the Foundation’s larger objective of making essential experiences accessible to all, not just a privileged few.

By subsidising access to a historical learning space, the Foundation demonstrates how targeted donations can lead to meaningful public benefit. Rather than large-scale events, this kind of support has a quiet but deep impact on awareness-building at the grassroots level.

Giving Every Individual a Chance to Learn

Cultural education plays a critical role in shaping identity, and access should never be limited by cost. Through this initiative, the Abhay Bhutada Foundation has created an opportunity for people to engage with India’s historical roots in an interactive environment. This is especially relevant for students who gain much more from such experiences than they might from textbooks alone.

By making this learning affordable, the Foundation is helping build a society where knowledge is not dependent on income levels.

A Step Forward in Educational Outreach

The upcoming two months are expected to draw high footfall at Shivsrushti, particularly from schools and community groups. This will likely lead to a new wave of interest in visiting cultural sites, especially among young people. With online ticketing in place, visitors can plan their trips easily while the park maintains crowd regulation and visitor safety.

As the benefits of this initiative unfold, it may inspire other institutions to adopt similar public-first approaches in making historical and cultural learning more widely available.

Conclusion

The support extended by the Abhay Bhutada Foundation to Shivsrushti is more than a financial act—it is a commitment to preserving culture, expanding access, and building public engagement with India’s proud history. By enabling thousands of people to experience Shivaji Maharaj’s life story at an affordable cost, the Foundation has ensured that history is experienced, not just remembered. This initiative stands as a reminder of what thoughtful giving can accomplish.
